'Nguzu Tha-th' translates to 'My Papa' in Kala Lagau Ya, the predominant language of the Western Isles of the Torres Strait. In the Eastern Islands the term would be Kara Ab. My Father was a clever man, a diver and a ships' Captain, who like to dance and have a drink. He was 'papa' to 13 children and although he wasn't strict he did teach his children to obey. He captained many boats, diving for Trocus and pearl and once sufferred from the bends. He could navigate from Cairns to St Paul's simply by using the stars. This piece is my papa.
